Andhra Pradesh Government Launches Multi-Utility Vehicle ‘Naipunya Ratham’
The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu launched the Naipunya Ratham, a multi-utility vehicle. Also known as ‘World on Wheels (WoW)’, Naipunya Ratham is aimed at taking technology and innovation to the remote corners of the State. The Naipunya Rathams will facilitate and look to improve digital literacy and digital skills as part of the ‘Smart Village Smart Ward Programme’ of the state,. The State Government has allotted Rs 300 crore for the project.
Chhattisgarh bags ‘Water Digest Award’ for best water conservation and irrigation facility
Chhattisgarh bagged the National ‘Water Digest Award’ for Water Conservation-Diversion and for increasing the irrigation capacity in the State. This is the first time that Chhattisgarh Water Resources Department had been given national Award during the past 17 years. The Union Minister of State for Water Resources Arjun Ram Megwal presented the award to Chhattisgarh Water Resources Department Secretary Sonmani Bora. The Award is presented every year by the globally renowned magazine ‘Water Digest’-which focuses mainly on water resources. Chhattisgarh State bagged the award for increasing the irrigation capacity, community participation, water management -water diversion, water conservation, efforts towards inter-linking of rivers, better techniques utilized in irrigation facilities.
NCERT launches dedicated portal for CBSE books
National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) decided to supply the required number of textbooks to all Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) affiliated schools for the academic session 2018-19. Discussing the issue of publishing and providing textbooks with the CBSE, NCERT has launched a dedicated web portal (www.ncertbooks.ncert.gov.in) for the supply of textbooks to schools and individuals. It has also enlarged its distribution network of vendors across the country. The details of such (895) vendors have been uploaded on the NCERT website for the convenience of the schools and parents. The NCERT has not received any reports regarding scarcity of textbooks from schools or students so far. Almost around 3578 schools have placed their requirement of NCERT books on this portal. Thirteen States and Union Territories have taken copyright permission from for printing of NCERT Textbooks for their respective States and Union Territories. Ten States and Union Territories are procuring the Textbooks directly from the board.
Yuki Bhambri defeats Bosnia’s Mirza Basic to cruise into Miami Open tennis second round
After beating Mirza Basic 7-5, 6-3 ,ace Indian tennis player Yuki Bhambri moved to the second round of Miami Open . The Indian Davis Cupper will now face Jack Sock in the next round who is world number 11 and eighth seed American. This will be the first meeting between the two after 2013 when Bhambri had beaten Sock in a Challenger event. Yuki draw with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Sweden’s Elias Ymer in the second and final qualifying round had qualified at ranked 107for the ATP 1000 series . Yuki, of late, has created excellent results against top players as he registered the biggest win of his career, shocked world number 12 Lucas Pouille in the second round of Indian Wells Masters.
